Trail Courtesy Reminders
As summer hits its peak, our Park District’s 20+ miles of biking and hiking trails see their heaviest use. To ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow these basic courtesy rules:
- Stay to the Right: Walk, run, skate, and bike on the right side of the trail.
- Limit Group Size: When the path is in heavy use, try not to walk more than two abreast and walk, run, skate, or ride single-file.
- Pass Safely: Always pass on the left and ring a bell or use a verbal warning when passing.
- Maintain Control: Bicyclists should always ride under control and watch their speed.
- Yield Appropriately: Bikers and skaters must yield to walkers; pedestrians have the right of way.
- Follow Signage: Obey all posted signs.
- Clean Up: Dog owners, please clean up after your pets.
E-Bike Information
We want as many people as possible to enjoy our trails while keeping them safe for all users. Our Park District trails are multi-purpose and cater to walkers, runners, wheelchair users, parents with strollers, and bicyclists. To maintain safety, Class 3 and above e-bikes, due to their higher speeds, are not permitted on Park District trails.
Enjoy your time on the trails!
By following these guidelines, we can all share the trails responsibly and ensure a positive experience for everyone. Visit our Interactive Map to view our Trails & Paths and find your next adventure.
