Inclusion Services for Individuals with Disabilities
We believe everyone belongs, and all have the right to choose which setting to participate in recreational activities. The Oswegoland Park District works collaboratively with the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) to provide reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities who need assistance to participate successfully in programs.
We strive to foster independence and active participation in the least restrictive environment. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), modifications can vary from program to program and are determined following an intake assessment conducted by a team member from FVSRA.
Modifications can include one or more of the following:
- Activity Modification
- Adaptive Equipment
- Additional Staff Support
- Sign Language Interpreters
- Staff Training
- Support Plans for Behavior, Diabetes, or Seizure Disorders
Requesting Inclusion Services
Inclusion services can be requested at the time of registration. Please call us at 630.554.1010 to request inclusion services, and a Customer Service Representative will assist in completing an Inclusion Request Form. In order for FVSRA to provide the best customer service, they ask for at least two weeks’ notice before the start of the program. Once registration is complete, your request for support is forwarded to FVSRA for processing. Please note you must request inclusion services each time you register for a program.
Timeline for Services
For new participants, FVSRA aims to complete an intake assessment within one week of receiving your request for inclusion services. Once an individual has a completed intake on file, the average time to determine and coordinate modifications is two weeks. To provide the best customer service, we ask for at least two weeks’ notice before the start of the program to arrange modifications.
